WHAT CAN I EXPECT
Expect to meet genuinely nice people in a nonjudgmental environment.  The music is a mix of traditional and contemporary gospel music.  You can expect a sermon by a prepared Pastor who thoroughly explains the message of Christ in a way that you can understand - as it is stated in the books of the Bible.  Each thought-provoking sermon typically highlights how God's word applies to our modern, daily lives.

Bethel Oxnard is an African Methodist Episcopal Church, meaning its practices and beliefs are Methodist.  The AME Church was born in a time period that was marked by man’s intolerance of his fellow man – during slavery and oppression.  At Bethel Oxnard, we do not judge a person by the color of their skin.  In fact, we are sensitive to the dehumanization of all people. Everyone is welcome - regardless of race, gender, national origin, physical abilities, gender identity, family status or family makeup.

DO I NEED TO DRESS UP?
The attire is, “come as you are" – meaning you may see blue jeans, casual, business casual or suits.  We are not concerned with how a person looks, or how perfect he/she may be.  Nobody at Bethel Oxnard is perfect.  That doesn't mean that we are not trying or progressing to be more like Christ, we are striving to improve our lives every day experiencing the joy and fulfillment of living a Christian life.  Trust that whoever you are, you'll be among friends at Bethel Oxnard.
